Sand Boas
Thought i would show off some of my sand boas as the Erycine family are one of my favorite snakes. these in general are still pretty uncommon in the U.K.
this is henrietta my kenyan sand boa. these are my 2 newier sand boas, i had them due to the owner wanted nintendo wii instead. they will be cooled down for breeding as soon as they get checke dover by hannah. i think you can guess which is the male and which is the female. (smaller is ASDA the smaller one and TESCO is the bigger one(female)) another pic of them this is my sharan sand boa, one of only 3 boas in the world that lay eggs. the last owner thoguth it wud be fun to feed him live mice. so now he will not eat and has to be force feed. hannah will be looking forward to doing this on tuesday lol. i have tried but he is a real little bugger lol. a few mor epics of him. |

Great snakes, you said the last owner fed it live mice, excuse the ignorance (dont know about the husbandry of snakes!!) but what should they have fed it? Why did it stop him eating? Its facinating stuff!!!

thanks. veebee snakes in the u.k. that are fed on rodents must be fed dead rodents. It is illegal to feed live rodents as it is generally unnaural for them as a snake hunts for food whne hungry so if u add a rat when the snake is full then the rat will harm the snake and the rodent will suffer in pain. dead rodents are humainly killed and are frozen. live mice move realisticly where as shaking a dead one is no the same but also the scents are very different. this is the reason why shud never by wild cuaght snakes.
good question lol alot of people don't no that. |
