Soooooooo.....for all the green fingered ones, im female and cant even grow weeds correctly so should i be buying seeds now and then throwing them onto a soil patch or wait another month or two?? Growing them in pots make them spindly rubbish things!!

I would sow them now rather than in a couple of months and you should have some nice weeds by the end of the spring.

I was joking really
As said sow them now and you will find some will come up now and others will come up when they are ready weed seeds seem to have a built in clock and won't germinate till the time and conditions are Wright |

They've sprouted
I'm going to chuck the rest of the seeds onto the patch which will be the torts outdoor enclosure next year, so hopefully something useful will grow at some point! Maybe some of the seeds I threw down a few months ago will appear after the winter too then?

I found that some I planted (well, just hoyed into the enclosure really) one summer didn't actually appear until 2 years later.
Some seeds will appear not to be growing but their roots will be getting established. Plantain is a good one to plant, it could be that if you go out looking now you might find some of the long stalks with the seeds still on them. I re-sow the seeds off my plantain every year but the ratio of seeds germinating to seeds sown is low, it's not like grass seed where it all sprouts, it's like 1 in ever 500 it seems like |
