Totally agree, this tortoise life is just a big rip off, as mentioned when wet it goes like concrete and the tortoises are atracted to it.

I have been saying this for years and years, unfortunately most new keepers have to find out the hard way. As they don't actually research enough to start with.
Soil is the best substrate as its what they have in the wild:0)

unfortunately in any animal keeping fads pop up from time to time that everyone latches onto then all of a sudden a case read on a site that was posted by someone who knew someone who read it somewhere and all of a sudden its out of favour.
so hard for new owners to get valid unbiased info without personal opinions coming into it. best way with any animal is to look at where they live in the wild and try to copy it as close as possible |
