Dotty looks great Levi

Though to me she looks like she came from Bulgaria originally and not Turkey. Not sure why anyone thought she was over-weight. I just did her on the Hailey scale and she is actually under-weight for her size. I'm getting 5,300g for her size.

Was amazed when Dan said she could reach over 5kg

Thanks Helen & Nadine and thanks for that link Lynn, she looks very similar to my girl.
I was never really sure what her weight should be, I just let her eat what she wants. If we had better summers I'm sure she would be a little heavier. But I'm happy with her weight at the moment it seems to be about right to me.

Hi Danny,

That's very interesting I was told she was from Turkey, but I'm happy with Bulgaria. Have you got a link to the Hailey scale ?

Extremely Large Spur-thighed (male) Romania.

This male looks to be about the same size as my Female.

His curvilinear carapace length was 37.5
Est bodyweight of 4885g
Est SCL of 30.1 cm

My girl had curvilinear carapace length of 38cm back in 2007 (I must measure her again)

Max Bodyweight 4897g in June this year. (lost a lot since then, but I think that was mostly food)

SCL of 30cm

So not much in it.

It is nice to see records of similar size Spur-thighs in the wild.

Seen them all now, they are stunning photos of Dotty... well she is very beautiful herself and what a gorgeous shell. She looks very happy.
