Oskia's eggs,can anyone help?
My beloved Russian Tort, Oskia laid 5 eggs in April for the first time. I didn't have an incubator at the time, so purchased one off the internet ASAP (it cost £100). At 61 days the incubator thermostat failed sending the temp up to 45 degrees during the night. It has since been returned as faulty and the eggs are in a homemade cardboard box and heat mat incubator, which seems to be keeping a constant 30 - 31 degrees pretty well. However, some of the eggs have developed pin holes and a really smelly, sticky liquid is coming out of these little holes. I've got a really bad feeling about this, has anyone had a similar experience, or any other suggestions - please help.

I know very little regarding incubating eggs, but sadly the fact there is a rancid smell would indicate to me that there is no life in the eggs
No doubt someone with more experience will be along shortly and can advise you better. Best wishes. |

Sadly, I think you are right. I was hoping to hear that they might be ok, but things that don't smell right usually aren't. I haven't told Oskia yet, not sure how to break the news.

I agree if the eggs smell bad than they have started to rot and produce gas
