I bought a couple in the summer Alan. One for the salad tray in the fridge and one for Marly's food box. Didn't notice any difference. And once they get wet they split and spill the contents all over. Went in the bin

I have something similar, called "fridge balls" (absorb gases given off by fruit & veg which accelerate rotting.) I keep em in a box with washed weeds, dont know if they make a great deal of difference, I usually weed pick twice a week & they are fresh as daisy but when the snow was here I did manage to keep my weeds a week?

Mine were 69p for 2 from B & M Bargains but are available in most cheap shops.
