Default Growing too fast?

I have heard some say that growing a tortoise too fast is bad, or that it will contribute to pyramiding. Maybe I can help debunk these *in my opinion wrong ) theories. Both of these leopards are 10 - 10 1/2 months old.
This one is 4 1/2" and weighs 410 g.

This one 4 5/8" and 440 g.

Too much heat and excessive drying out of the shell while growing.

Since I have had them, they were about 40g when I got them, Mazuri tortoise diet mixed with whatever greens was available. Grocery store greens in the winter, whatever I can pick now. These are my two biggest. I have one that just passed 300g, and another just past 200g (this one stayed the same weight for 3 months, and finally started eating and growing.
