Default 4 year old Hermann tort :)

We got Freddie yesterday

He is so shy, as we got him from pet shop we dont think he is used to people and is spending most of his time in his hide or hiding under leaves...He hasnt had anything to eat/drink and im wondering if anybody has any tips on how to get him to 'come out of his shell'

Tortoises can take a while to get used to you and their new surroundings. He probably just needs a couple of weeks to settle in, keep offering him food and he should come round.
He is a lovely looking tort

He will be fine, don't worry too much. He is just settling in, he may not eat for a couple of weeks or more.
One of mine didn't eat for 2 weeks, but then the other one ate the same day i got her home. Just bath him to keep him hydrated, also spray the soil for humidity, they are important.

Freddie's lovely. Give him a while to settle in and he'll be fine.

Freddie is a lovely tort with a very nice shell. As said, dont fret about eating, he will do so when he's ready. Until then I would bath him daily & offer fresh food after his bath. Apart from bathing I would leave him alone in a quiet place & give him time to settle in, the less stress the better.

You could try squeezing some tomatoe juice on his other food okitsme, try to tempt him. The other favourite is cucumber - you could use a garlic press?
