Horace
This is the third winter I have had Horace. In the past I have had problems keeping him awake. He would always be in his hide. Now things are diffrent, he will not go into his hide.
Horace stays under his basking lamp 24 hours, 12 of them while I have them lit. In the morning he will wake up after the basking lamp as been on for 15 mins, he does walk to his hide or goes upstairs but then returns to his basking lamp. Temps under basking lamp, 35c and cold end 25c. Horace will only eat his pellets, which I give 3 days a week. I give him a bath every day. Does anyone know why Horace as changed this winter? |

What time are your lights coming on, Chris?? Ambient room temp??
At 25degrees ...might be a little warm for your cool end..aim for around 22degrees. You could try the main basking light going off for an hour or so?? But would he wake after by himself? Is the area where his hide is , a darker spot (slightly) than other areas of the table?? The only other thing is remember for a November.. it's not totally freezing yet. Temps during the daytime outside IMO are pretty mild. The rain prob increases humidity. It just doesn't feel as cold. Also.. In a few weeks when the light quality fades, you may see his behaviour change again. At the mo, it darkens around 4pm in the afternoon. And lighting up on the mornings at around 6.30am. See what others say. PS - I presume your temp readings are with a digital thermometer, not the round dial faced ones.. Those are a little difficult to read accurately. xx |

Shortly I expect it won't be light until around 7.30-8am and will start deteriorating at around 3pm. Something to bear in mind. xx
Gotta love 'the little sod' ... What a change from a year or so ago !! xx |
