Why is it everything seem's smaller and cut down in size. When you were a kid, Mar's Bar's were as big as a brick, Waggon Wheels like a dustbin lid.
Just bought a Batternburg cake and the Marzipan is about 2 mm thick, am sure it was a quarter of an inch before.

I can't work that one out either. I tell my kids how big things used to be but they just give me a look. My eldest thinks I imagine it.
Is it because we were smaller and everything looked huge or are things really smaller?

I totally agree.
Call me a moaning old fart D but..

I also find a lot of the products packaging are very misleading.
For example; a standard packet of crisps from the shop looks bulky and puffed out however once opened, the bag is only about 1/3 to 1/2 full. Even worse with multi-packs crisps. Since the bags are tiny anyways.

Powered milkshakes are generally only about 3/4 full. SMA formula milk isnt quite full either. just to name a few

I can understand most products are sold by weight not volume, but having packaging much bigger than the contents is definitely misleading. and surely it would it would be better for storage, the environment and material costs if packaging were smaller. But I believe many many items would look too small and people wont buy them.

The first time I ever went back to primary school was to a parents night and I couldn't believe how tiny everything was, it had just been normal size 20 odd years prior

Also remember the days when you could get a portion of large chips for under a pound? For the price of feeding a 4 person family at the chippy, you can go somewhere much better i mean a chippy near me charges over £6 for fish a chips.

so for me thats

me; £6 F&C, can/small bottle of coke £1
the mrs; £6 F&C, can/small bottle of coke £1
kid1;small chips,fishcake or sausage and a can of coke
kid2;small chips, will share fish and drinks with rest of us

£18+ (approx)

we can have a chinese or indian delivered free, which will feed all 4 of us, including drinks with leftovers for £14-£16, or a pizza (locally known as a party tray) for £10 delivered, which we will eat 3/4 of it, and have enough left overs to take to work

now again, feel free to call me a moaning old fart hehe

When I was a lad it was a tanner for a bag of chips (2.5p) and 2 shillings for a fish supper (10p). I can't ever remember there being any other options though there might have been battered sausages or chicken. certainly no burgers, pizza, battered mushrooms, king ribs, curry sauce or owt like that

I think it's just because we were smaller, I remember cans of pop being massive and I could never drink a full one.

Bag of chip's was massive, must have used a shovel, scrap's were free. Some chippy's around here charge 10p for scraps now.

I went to parent's evening primary and sat in a school chair and could'nt get up. It was like Gulliver's travel's. everything in miniture.
