Well, I've had my excercise for the day!!
Nightmare morning - went to put the horses out this morning - I never put a headcollar on the big lad as he just follows me wherever I go - but my new lad - Ely is a cob and he uses his weight in most situations - whether it be pushing on a fence till it breaks, to get out or as this morning, bolting off with me hanging on for dear life!!
This is a new thing he has learnt and he is doing it most days now - but I have a trick up my sleeve - tomorrow, I am going to attach a lunge line (very long leadrein) and when he goes, he can go - till I start lungeing him in a circle!!! - That'll teach him and maybe my legs can have a rest!! |

Not at all - but it must have looked hilarious - I don't think my little legs have ever gone so fast - the fat git gave up in the end and looked round at me as thought to say "fair play missus"
And, for anyone who thinks (and I have seen people write that cobs are "dopes on ropes") NO NO NO NO NOOOOO - they are not!! - they are very intelligent and know exactly how to get away with murder!! |

I love them!!!
Unfortunately though, my big boy is not too well at the moment - he is and 18hh Gelderlander (which is rare in this country) he was a puissance showjumper and won numerous times at Hickstead - which must have really taken its toll on his hips/joints - he went lame before christmas and was on bute for a month - he is not too bad now, but where he has not been ridden for so long, he is getting muscle wastage - I am finding it really hard to put the weight on and the vet said last week we may need to talk about our options!!!! (which scares the hell out of me) I have never, and will never own such a wonderful horse, he is gentle, loving, trusting and such a big softy, he has never put a foot wrong and you honestly could put a child on him and he is 100% bombproof - I seriously think that if I lose him, I will never have another!! Here is a pic of my eldest lad, Reece on Bonno: |

Thanks Nicky, I am trying not to get too upset - but every morning, when I take his rug off - he looks awful. the vet doesn't think so!!
This is who I bought him off - he tried dressage with him but he was too gangly - (he reminds me of a giraffe)!! |
