Default red foot hatchling questions

Hi all, not been able to get online for a while due to swapping service providers - always the way when questions need answering!

Back in April one of my reds laid her 1st clutch of eggs, they were tiny and didn't hold out much hope. I haven't been checking these as regularly as I should and on sunday one had head and front legs out but I don't know when it started.

After a couple of days I noticed its head and leg was stuck to the shell so back these areas and it popped out.

Questions are

How long should it take for the egg sac to absorb?
I gave it a little soak today - didn't realize I could soak while egg sac was still there but no drinking, should I be concerned?
Its tiny - but so was the egg, at 11g will this cause any problems?
And finally how long til they straighten out?

heres the little one

That's gotta be the smallest RF I've ever seen.

They normally do not take food for about a month.

There is no reason to soak them if the yolk is not absorbed but the yolk should be kept moist until absorbed.

The yolk should be absorbed by 3 days depending on the size of the exposed yolk sac.

Place it in a cup... with moist paper. Orient the tortoise up on top of the yolk sac. It should be flat by the time the yolk is absorbed.

Thanks everyone, yes a little cutie

Ed thanks for info, so far its been placed on damp kitchen roll in incubator but i've had an empty one running since hatching which is now up to temp / humidity so will transfer to there and put in a cup as suggested. This way I can check more often how its doing without worrying about temps etc for other eggs.

Star - I think its so small as the eggs were, this one is from her 1st clutch and they made pigeon eggs look big! Time will tell how it does.

That is a very tiny RF. Smallest I have had was 23g hatched. I'd guess mine are usually around the 30-35g mark. As everyone has said, keep him in the incubator on damp kitchen roll. And he'll straighten out as the egg sac is absorbed. Good luck with him! Keep us updated!
