Seems strange advice from a breeder. Was it not a dealer?

If you think about it they wouldn't stay awake during the winters in the wild for the first couple of years. Saying that best not to hibernate as they are new to you. Wait till next year

These are imported tortoises

Often full of nasty bacteria and worms

You must go to a vet with a fecal sample and have it checked for worms and protazoa. Does anyone know a good vet in Edinburgh?

Definately dont hibernate them this year.

What are you keeping them in and what are you feeding them?

Hi Lapa,

Welcome to Shelled Warriors.

If you only got your tortoises last week, then you wont be hibernating them this year. as you dont really know them. Next year will be the right time and for 8 weeks not 3.

I guess the article 10 papoerwork states they are from slovinia, you should have got a yellow piece of paper with each tortoise and it will say on there the country of origin.

I suspect i know where you got them from and they are dealers not breeders there is a significant difference between them both in the UK.

We love pics on here. So if you can get some taken that would be great. How big (long) are your torts?
