Wish I could Paul, wish I could.

I don't know you make a humid hide, assist in an E Bay tortoise rescue and everyone thinks you can perform miracles!! I am not a saint.

And yes my NYE fancy dress costume arrived today. (you'll have to see my thread in "general").

I'm thinking the "Jesus" thing works for you kirkie. Today, humid hide, tomorrow, the red sea parting!

Thank you It needs to be be high enough that the top of the tortoises shell cannot touch the "roof" and deep enough that they can still access it when its dug down into the substrate.

I've had an idea on keeping the humidity of the substrate within the hide up, base the whole thing on a large plant pot holder dish thing ()
Err maybe I should post a picture when I get home

Hi,

The thinking is that in the wild small tortoises spend a lot of time holed up in burrows or in deep vegetation where the atmosphere is quite humid. It's thought that a humid retreat may alleviate the pyramiding of shells to some extent.

It's a complex idea because there is also a theory that in dry times there is little food and therefore growth and that during damp periods there is alot of food and accellerated growth. The combination of a relativly dry captive environment plus plentiful food may be a cause of pyramiding.

Bit rushed but I'm at work.

What costume?
