Hi Mat, and welcome from me too. I'm in Southampton, so just down the road from you. I know of a breeder in Hedge End if that's any help to you at all. PM me if you'd like his name
P.S I keep Spur thighs myself, all Med torts such a Hermans, Spur Thighs and Margies have pretty similar husbandry requirements, and Horsfields although not a Med tort have much the same. Horsfields as has been mentioned love to dig and climb, so a little bit more preparation has to go into their outdoor enclosures.

just wondering as you said you keep spur thighs...
i have been researching tortoises for a long time now, and i have received some excellent advice so far here, everyone is so friendly! i have been recommended a spur thigh tortoise for a beginner, the scientific name eygyptiandan told me was the T.g Ibera...i was just wondering your opinion on this species ect, and advice on a reputable breeder? thanks.

good luck pompeymat on your tortoise hunt, everyone here has been great to me!

Hi Mat

Welcome to Shelled Warriors.

Any of the mediteranean tortoises are great for beginners, whether they be hermans, med spur thighs, marginateds or horsefields. I keep mainly TG Ibera myself but do have 1 very special TG Terrestris (Golden Greek) in my collection.
