Default Humidifier

Hello

For my Leopard enclosure I spray his viv as and when necessary to keep the humidity right and this has been sucessful. I rehomed a yellow foot tortoise yesterday and the guy had a humidifer that went of i assume on a timer of if the humisity dropped to keep the humidity going.

Does anyone else use one and if so any recommendations ???

We have a similar kind of thing in one of our tropical vivs...we have a mister that is on a timer to go off for fifteen minutes every four hours...that way it keeps the humidity up and the heat lamps dry it out in between...
We also have a tank with a dripper system set up but that doesn't keep the humidity as high as the mister...

Ours is the ZooMed Repti-Fogger...
It is very good although I don't think it was very cheap (I think about £60 if my memory is correct) We have had it for a few years now and it has never failed us yet
If your on a budget the dripper systems are very easy and cheap to make...depends what kids of effect you are after really...what setup is it going in to? you need to make sure it is very waterproof, it does get it very wet! which is why we only have it on for fifteen minutes a few times a day...!!!

It is for my yellow footed tortoise in a viv with cypress mulch and soil as substrate. We have lined the joints and the corners of the viv with a aquarium sealant. Do you think that would be water tight enough. I was thinking of using a glass tank but no lid for ventilation but not sure that would keep the humidity up.

yeah that would be fine as long as the joints are sealed so it can't get in and start to rot the wood
we have our redfoot in a wooden viv with one at the moment so it would be fine...he's having a dripper system to go in his new tank but that's only because we are trying to save some electric in our house lol
