Housing for hatchling
I would just like some advice on this please. I'm not really sure what to do for the best! I plan to keep the tort in my dining room. I have a space nearer the window which could fit a tort table 5' long x 2' deep - would this be ok for a hatchling and then for an adult horsfield (male)? My other option is an area where I could have a 4' 6" x almost 3' table. It would be further from the window (but the room is south facing) but the bonus of here is that it is next to the airing cupboard (so assuming it will generally be a bit warmer). Again, would this size be ok for hatchling to adult?
Finally, I also have an indoor rabbit cage (plastic base, wire top. Measures 120cm long) that I could use whilst tort is small enough, but at roughly what age would i need to get a larger tort table? I prefer the look of a table but we are in a rented house so if at any point we move, a larger table may not fit the new house, whereas if I have a small table and we move it will be easier to place and I can then get a table to fit the new house (we hope to buy in a few years). Any suggestions most welcome! |

The rabbit cage sounds just fine for a hatchling, it wont be the age but the size that affects when you change to a bigger table (and my head isn't working on dimensions today) but 5x2' sounds good.
I would thing the rabbit cage will do for the first year or so...

Sounds fine and I think the move to the table is when your tortoise is outgrowing the rabbit hutch.
I have a tortoise table as my thoughts were it will last my Petey longer. Petey is by a window which he seems to like. Gets natural light when the sun appears haha

I would think 5 foot x 2 foot would be a good size from hatchling to adult x
