average age of a leopard?

hello every one!

ive just been on wikipiedia and typed in leopard tortoise and it said the average lifespan for a leopard tortoise is 50 years, is this right?

i always thought they lived longer than that.

And a few quoting 50+ years, I doubt anyone has kept them long enough to truely know there life expectancy yet.

yes i suppose no one has had one for long enough, i never really thought of that.

i suppose it is different for how they are kept too, very confusing

i've read in some places/books that the oldest captive leopard died at 30. i've also read the oldest died at 50

i've heard in the wild they live for about 30 but i firmly believe that the captivity of the leopard tortoise improves as time goes on.. in older books the shells of adult leopards in pictures were slightly naff but in newer written books and publications and in terrys pictures, newer pictures of younger adults look good..

what i'm trying to say is, as time goes on, .. i'm sure more are living for longer because of improved care, so saying 50+ would probably be an ok statement.

i hope ours live that long or longer!

it seems the bigger the tortoise the longer they live, or have i got that complealy wrong haha.

because look at the aldabra tortoise expected to live to 100+ and the galapagas(sp) tortoises living ages too.
