Does my Hermanns think he's a Redfoot LOL
Hi everyone,
I know Hermanns dont usually have meat in their diet but today I was looking round the outside enclosure after just giving Sherman and Rocket a treat of strawberries and some cucumber along with their usual dandilion and herbiseed weeds and noticed Sherman my 5yr old getting stuck into infact nearly fininshed a quite large earthworm. Now im thinking it says all over net not to feed these guys meat which I dont but he must of fancied that worm or otherwise he would of let it get on in life. |

Some tortoises have been known to eat slugs, worms and the like. But its only on rare occasions
and when they find them. We should not feed as part of their normal diet.

hi and tnx for reply I know what your saying but if they are in an outdoor enclosure we cant always see what they eat and being outside as soon as I water enclosure the worms are out amongst all the weeds. It is first time ive seen him eat a worm but surely if they didnt want it he wouldnt eat it.The diet I stick with is herbiseed weeds bow growing well and fresh dandi's and sometimes strawberries and at the moment regular cucumber as its full of water.

I would just leave them too it. I've seen mine eat the odd slug, but for hermanns I wouldnt add them to the diet just let them eat them if they want to.
