Default weed alternative

I know wild weeds are by far the best food for torts, however finding them isnt the easiest in my area. especially finding those that i can be confident havent been treated with weeds killer. its there anything you can purchase from a supermarket that is a reasonable substitute whilst weeds are scarce, are that can bolster a meal that consists of a small amount of weeds?

Nor me, but feeding supermarket foods all year round does nothing for the health of your
tortoise.
Sounds like you will have to do what most of us do, and grow them<g>. Since having tortoises
my garden has turned into a weedy one.

Dave best thing I can suggest is take a walk out of your weedless area and gather some in plenty from a nice country lane these can then be stored in the salad compartment of your fridge and use as needed they will last a week before the vitamin content starts to deplete, really try hard not use substitutes this time of year its for the best promise

So my question was just out of curiosity, im just going to have to work harder on growing my own

thanks all for your replies

Growing weeds is a doddle, you just throw the seeds onto the worst soil you have water and
leave<g>. Thats what I do with mine, and they thrive. If you look after them they die.

I don't know if this is an option in the UK, but I can get huge, beautiful dandelion greens at the natural food store. I use them a lot in the winter.

Hi can someone tell me when the weeds will die off or do they, never paid too much attention to them until getting benny. Have noticed a lot of the dandelion flowers are turning to seed already. I have picked some and blew the weeds into bennys enclosure Have to wait and see what happens. Yes i am mad
