That's the point I made earlier... you and the owners might have seen the chat as a small part but as you can see from this post alone... it is a big part of this forum... I've never seen you in chat?
Again... it allowed people to vent... and it was gone. I have no problem saying we all did well in chat. Most of the diehards(those without a life) used chat.

It was a good as a 'unique' selling point of this forum. A good social interactive part of it.
I think with it gone .. And I understand those reasons - the forum has lost that connection that members had to eachother. It's lost a bit if it's uniqueness and sparkle. It was what set it apart. xx |

This is a large post but doesnt mean that the Chat box was a big part of the forum. There are other forms of chat msn messenger for example, which has nothing to do with tortoise welfare, whereas the forum does and is the most important and appropriate topic for a tortoise forum.

surely there are other places to chat? it was the talking about other members and discussing new members threads etc that's not chat that's just nasty hopefully now one of the main instigators has gone some sort of chat will be considered if not in the same format as before. You can't tell me that when people get together in 'real life' all they do is talk about other's? many including me would come on and find they had been talked about in a not nice way, I'm perfectly capable of haveing a good discussion/arguement but when your not there to take part/respond there's nothing nice about that. I thought chat was to have a laugh, even tell your troubles etc but not for gossiping about others, certainly not in a malicious manner.

But there were a lot if times that chat was just that, Ann.
I agree with your other points, but those times probably massively outweighed by the nights/days where it was all good natured and fun. xx |
