Hi all, if you can help me i would be very pleased, my tortoise dave has recently become very sloooow, he/she (unsure yet) dosent wake up in the morning and bearly moves for the entire day, he still eats and i encourage drinking by giving him a bath, i know the cage is warm enough because my other tortoise mr.t is very active, im not sure if he is well or not, any help or advice will be appriciated.

Hi & welcome. I think it would would help if you could explain about their set up.
What size is the cage? temperaturs warm/cool end? What sort of heat/UV do they have? How long are the lights on for per day? Have your torts been checked for parasites & how long have you had them? Have you recently added either of them? Sorry for so many questions but I think it would help to identify what the problem is. It is also possible that there may be some bullying going on, sometimes a tort can feel threatened just by another torts presence. |

Hi Maximus and welcome. I don't know what to suggest as I am still a tortoise virgin (but only for another 10 days) but I didn't want to read and run. I hope you get the answers that you need and that Dave picks up.

I can't really add anything Lynn hasn't already covered. Try to answer all her questions.
I'm in exactly the same boat with my little one and Lynn helped me enormously last year too. Can I just say Dave is a brilliant name for a tortoise

Some of my tortoises at certain times of the year just want to sleep. My young male Luna does it from january to march or april, my other little female George has been doing it for the past few weeks now. I'm not overly concerned as they will eat when encouraged and they do come round eventually.
Its probably worth you giving us more info though just to see if there is a possible cause. But sometimes there just isn't one. Helen xx |

The OP posted here on the 14th of July, and has not returned as yet and we are 6 days on.
I think this bombardment is a little OTT, give the OP a chance to come back and answer already asked questions before you frighten the person away. It is great that you all want to help but please use some common sense here folks.
