You have found a Spanish pond turtle, Mauremys leprosa. Very much native to where you are.

Awesome! It's good to know what species he/she is! Thank you!
What should I keep him/her in? Should I provide any kind of food? I don't have any ideal reptile lighting or any tanks, will he be okay till tomorrow? It's such a gloomy day today too so I can't take him to get some natural sunlight either. |

They get 20 to 25cm as adults. As a hatchling a 20gal long tank should be fine for a few years (you'll need much bigger as an adult). Filled about half way with a spot to bask (a piece of large tree branch or stump is best). A basking light over the basking spot (a MVB would be best). you can feed a good prepared turtle pellet or stick and worms, shrimp and small insects 2 or 3 times a week.

Are there any links to care sheets on this forum? I do apologize for all the questions I'm asking.

There are but most are for torts. Never heard of a spanish pond turtle, Danny(although I don't know much about turtles), are they similar to the European pond turtle.

Thank youuuuuu .
Quick update on him! He's been named DJ Poseidon by my little brother. Apparently I had no say in the matter hahaha. I managed to buy him his tank today, along with his filter, his basking platform and his basking bulb, he seems happy in his new home! . He's sat there basking at the moment he hasn't really had the chance to do much of it since I found him so he seems to be enjoying himself. He's got this look on his face "At last, finally caught a break" |
