Default The Stud

Here he is. Picked him up yesterday, UK bred. Incubated (and already looking) male.

Ok, he's got a bit of growing to do (about the size of a 10p at the moment) but hopefully he will be my breeding male Spotted Turtle in the future.

Lovely turtle.

What traits are showing that at a .10p size you are thinking he is male?

I've read it in several books that male/female spotties are disernable from birth but had never seen it in the flesh since all my others are female.

The head and throat has a lot less colouration, more uniformly dark and the eyes are very dark brown.

I also collected a similar sized female yesterday. Once they've settled in I'll try and take comparison photo's but it quie subtle, yet visible.
