I have to agree with Wendy, my torts would happily take a chunk out of the dog or cat, and they would run away, my dog would sit and watch the torts hoping they would run, but was always disappointed when they didn't. I used to have a dog like Wendy's that used to mother Guinea pigs, hamsters, kittens. If you know your own dog very well, it's ok , just be careful, and don't leave them alone.

Beautiful picture Kelly. If you know your dog and your dog knows his place in the family then you have nothing to fear. My dog is the same, he moves out of the way for the torts and even shares their weeds with them, loves a nice dandelion flower.

Can you ever really trust a terrier though is my opinion. Mines a westie and they are renowned for being string willed etc. he is a very well behaved dog and when the tortoises have been out he has sniffed them and then walked away but i couldn't leave him with them I guess shi-tzu's and pugs are ok because they have no bite

[QUOTE=Scute Recruit;605551] What time of day would you say is best to bath your tort, does it matter? How often should they be bathed?
QUOTE] It's really up to you, I know a lot of people who bath younsgters everyday, it's can help wake them up a bit in the morning, it helps keep their enclosure clean as they usually elimiate while in a luke warm bath. With adults as far as I know bathing once or twice a week enough. |

Bathing before eating, does encourage eating well:0)
If they are kept inside under the same heat all day, then they need bathing more regularly. As in nature they would have varing temps through out the day.
