Hi laura,
Thanks been to the vet this morning and suspects it's substrate in one of his nostrils which is irritating him so has given me a nasal flush to do each day and I'm changing their substrate later on I just like to be on top of things before they get out of control and as I'm still fairly new to tortoise keeping I'm still unaware when the odd bubble is just an odd bubble and nothing more serious. I think this is understandable considering I lost a tortoise in feburary who was uncontrolably bubbling.

The odd bubble is exactly that, it can be there one minute and not the next. If a tortoise has RNS its usually a small steady stream coming from the nares. If its clear it can be a husbandry error or something the tortoise is allergic too. Bumping up the heat sometimes works. If it continues then you see a vet. If it clears up, then generally its something that has upset the tortoise, rather than being bacterial or viral.
You have done everything right, its just the learning curve we all have to go through. It makes you a more confident keeper in the end, but does not seem like that at the time:0) See my first message on this thread, I mention that something could be stuck up the nares. Grass can easily get stuck up the nares too.

Hi Linds, glad Hector is ok. Hopefully you'll see a difference when you get rid of the sand! You're doing a great job with them!
