hi, my friend has had a tortoise given to her and i am now trying to find out what type it is and also the sex if possible? many thanks.... mandy -x-

A hermans possibley a female. Tail picture not at right angle.

A hermanns as Sandy says....and I would guess at a female too but a better pic of the tail would clinch it....

It's a female Hermanns tortoise, Testudo hermanni hercegovinensis.

she wasnt too bothered about the sex but the name 'speedy' can be male or female i suppose

the important thing is that now we know its a hermans we will be able to give her the right living environment.... thanks again mandy -x-
