A hermanns as Sandy says....and I would guess at a female too but a better pic of the tail would clinch it....

It's a female Hermanns tortoise, Testudo hermanni hercegovinensis.

thanks very much to aof you she wasnt too bothered about the sex but the name 'speedy' can be male or female i suppose the important thing is that now we know its a hermans we will be able to give her the right living environment.... thanks again mandy -x-
