Default leopard x sulcata ?

About 4 weeks ago I had some Sulcata eggs hatch. They seem quite normal in size but a little more domed than my other Sulcata hatch lings, the markings were quite different than normal with an almost golden bronze colour look to them with lots of spots and what look like question marks on some of them, didn't give it much thought until I showed a friend some pictures of them. He instantly identified them as hybrids. I had no idea this was possible between leopards and sulcatas the male leopard is tiny in comparison to the female sulcata. I do not house them together and they seldom meet out side so the chances of this happening was very small. Has any one else had any experience of this? Do they grow into leopards the size of sulcatas? They are the prettiest babies I have ever seen .

That hybrid is relatively common. I've never seen one bigger than a hatchling but I'd like to produce some to see what they look like as adults and if they would breed or not.

Please post some photos of the adults and babies.

This was from a guy selling some in the states...

Hi Ed,
this is a pure fluke what has happened, some people say that all hybrids are infertile? Do you think that this happens in the wild ? maybe its where the big giant leopards come from.

There is a very tiny area where the ranges might overlap but I've never heard of a wild hybrid between Leopard and Sulcata.

Again... I don't know of anyone who has raised them to adult or breeding size.

I doubt very much the gigantism in Leopards come from hybridization.

How many did you hatch? Pictures would be really nice.

Ed, im totally new to this so please forgive me if I am wrong, but I am sure I saw or read somewhere about a group of leopard tortoises in Sudan (might be wrong) that were huge. The picture showed them with a guy kneeling down and they were easily the size of sulcata or bigger.
