Are carrots safe?
I mostly feed garden weeds but have just thinned out my carrot seedlings and have some tiny carrots and the leavy tops so wondered if they were safe to feed rather than just going in the compost?
Many thanks |

I give carrot grated once a week. I use it because the Avimix i use sticks to it so they have to eat it

Carrots are fine. I would only feed in small quantities occasionally though as the calcium : phosphorus ratio is backwards!

The turtles eat them when we have them (admittedly not often!) and the budgies absolutely love them, but they love groundsel which is a definite no-no for tortoises - not much help really!

It is relatively high in oxalic acid.

I kind of think that the carrot greens are not safe otherwise they would be used in cooking or salads and I'm not sure they are, but I'm no cook
