Default Maisy the Wonder Hamster

Hi all,

Our hamster is . . . strong!! She bit through two bars of her cage but we 'repaired' them with wire . . . we've just been in the cupboard getting soil to plant some tortoise weeds and she's running about in the big cupboard! That's awful! My bike and scooter and roller-blades are in there; I don't want her to get squashed like a pancake!

Mum just tried to get her into her ball but she tried to bite my mum and is now in behind the bath (in the cupboard, we haven't it in yet!). Just so terrified of something happening, I mean, the next cage, she could easily bite through again! Probably testing out her teeth as her previous owners kept her in a glass tank!

Here the little rascal is Sorry the photo isn't very good, Maisy kept flinching!

Good luck Maisy x

Most hamster don't bite through bars if they have something else to chew on -perhaps some treats and gnaw blocks would help.

She is a cute hamster

Thanks Lynn, I got her after my black and white hamster was given to my 5-year old cousin and I love her! Mum won't buy a chew-block as Jerry and Jelly, the two previous hamsters never touched it! She doesn't really believe in it, but I'll buy one with my pocket money! Mum says if there's something I want that she won't buy and I have enough money for, she won't stop me x

Is she a Russian or Syrian?(SP?)

I had a hamster called nibbler i had him till he was 5 years old,he would always open the door and free-range round my bedroom lol

one night he went to sleep in my hair lol

i also had another one called Kerrang,When we moved to Wales she got out her cage,we spent months looking for her but could never find her :-/

We got her Maisy is perfectly OK, but a bit wet. I'm not sure what breed, Herpard, is there any way of telling? Nibbler is funny, I caught Maisy halfway across my room once

The only thing she's 'done' has been ate my dogs dried food, lol. We found tiny gnaw marks and guessed it was her. Plus, she came into her ball with very large cheeck-pouches. And poor Harvey had no food! There was only like two small squares but they were gone!

I hope her snacking on Harveys food won't do any harm to her

Ta, EB x

Ah glad you've caught her!

We used to give Nibbler some large dog biscuits to gnaw on to keep his teeth down so it shouldn't cause a problem

We give Maisy stuff called 'Gravy bones' and they're like little plain dog-biscuits covered with dried gravy. Well, not real gravy lol
