Please meet Darwin!
He is a 9 year old (ish) leo that I rescued from someone who no longer wanted him.
He is a lovely boy! Just wanted to make sure that he looks nice and healthy really The orange stuff on his shell is the fibreglass that was used to mend it when he was attacked by a shar pei. Clare xx |

One nice looking leo However one thing the fiberglass I think that may need removing as I believe I read on here that what it tends to do is just seal in any infection.

Beautiful markings on Darwin. Get expert advice before doing anything with his repair and I'm sure he'll be fine. Thanks for posting your nice pics!

Hey guys, thanks for all your nice words about my boy!
Regarding the fibreglass, I believe that he was attacked (and mended) about 1.5-2 years ago, so would any potential infection not be cleared up now? I was worried about his shell growth too as surely the resin will result in growth irregularities as he grows? I will definately go and speak to the vet about I think! Lindso3000 - I love the name Darwin and it is really fitting for a tortoise isn't it? Charles Darwin apparently had a pet tortoise called Speedy! My Darwin's full name is Professor PJ Darwin of Africa Cheers, Clare x |
