Applying for a specimen specific A10
Hi all, I've decided to microchip splat for a few reasons. Now I'm gunna apply for the specific cert, how is the process ? I've found the form on the .gov site but I have to fill it in. Should I just fill it in the same detail as his current a10 with my details on instead ?
Also when I post it where do I send it too ? I've not seen an address and what should I include in the old A10 cert ? And what do I include for the microchip data ? Sorry for the questions guys !

So you've found the FED1012 form, that's a good start 👍 on the same page you will see another heading to click on that helps you how to fill it in and the address . But I will give you the address
AHVLA Wildife Licensing Registration Service Floor 1 Zone 17 Temple Quay House 2The square Bristol BS1 6EB You need to post the old A10 cert, a copy of the chip forms and the application form and the fee, which is £31. If you want to phone and check all this its 0117 372 3700 Hope this helps 😁

I personally would send photocopies rather than orriginals, its not unheard of for forms to be lost

Are photocopies good enough ?
The only paperwork for the chip I got was a card with his name, and that he's a tortoise. It has a sticker with the barcode on nothing particularly important looking.

I've avoided all this up to now but I'm going to have to grapple with it at some point. We haven't even got any chips.

Once I have it all sorted out i will try to post an easy explanation (how to) on it for future reference. It's confusing when you try to use the old A10 as a starting point

when you had the tort chipped didn't you have to fill in a form? you usually get to keep one copy and the vet the other, that is the form you need to photocopy and send. You should usually get sent later details from the chipping company, ie your card and stickers but the form from the vets will do, and unless you want to loose something in the post photocopies will do, put a letter in with your application as well, at least I always did, your details should be on the form you filled in at the vets along with the chip number, all hand written thats what they want to see. If you send orriginals and they get lost you won't be able to get them back!

No, I never filled anything in, I'm already registered there and everything was done on the computer, in going to see them on Monday anyway as my address wouldn't show up on the system with it being new so I have to sort that out anyway

You might find they want the originals, when I did chipping and changing certs, they wanted the originals.

When I had mine chipped, I was given copies of the forms that the vet sends off to the chipping company who keep your details. I sent copies of these, go back and ask the vet for copies , or ask the chipping company. But you do need copies of those forms.
