I don't let mine wander around the house, a few years ago I diid let a couple of them try it but they just hid under chairs as they were stressed as they were not used to it, so I don't bother now.

I must admit the one and only time I put Bolder on the floor she ran! I'm not sure whether it was from fear or fun but I'm pretty certain it was the first.

My Sulcata also has a ramp from her house and as its too cold to go outside roams the kitchen .She quite happily goes backwards and forwards from her food to any spare dog biscuits !!One of my Hermans likes to go on the floor and pesters me until i put him down ,when the Sulcata is away i hasten to add ,wereas the other is not bothered at all. When they settle in a corner i just put them back .

Mine has free roam of the kitchen, we just leave the viv doors open and close the kitchen door if we're out - the floors tiled and there's absolutely nothing he can hurt himself on (unless he decides to run head first into a wall?!).
If we're in the house we let him roam from the kitchen to living room, again there's no wires or anything he can get tangled in or nibble on - just two sofas and a big leather box that we keep DVD's in, only reason he's not allowed in if we're not there is in case he decides to go to the toilet on my lovely carpet?! The reason we let him have free run is because from the day we got him over 7 years ago he just bangs on the sides of the viv until we let him out - we just made sure everywhere was tortoise proof first. We have a condensor tumble dryer in the kitchen and he likes to sit in front of vent - he splays all his legs out, stretches his neck and lays his head on the floor! |

I let xena my oldest tort roam around the house when im there, she loves it, i also have my two juveniles out to roam about after xena goes back in her home, my hatchling is too small so stays in her table , i also have wooden floors and a rug so no problem, xena comes out every day and my dog ignores them x
