Default microchipping

is microchipping a must? i keep getting told different i went to a reptile shop yesterday for some new water dishes and he sed they must be microchipped or i can get them taken off me if they go vets i heard unless you pklan on selling them on or what ever they dont need to be. amd they are not left outside unatteneded!

I don't think it is compulsary unless you plan on selling the tortoise or you want to breed from it. The tortoise also has to be over 100mm before it can be done to.

Absolute rubbish, currently you only have to microchip if you intend on selling or breeding and only then if they are over 10cm

They are thinking of introducing a 'nanochip' though which is much smaller for tiny torts but that's not law...yet

thats ok then he sed if they need to visit the vets they can take them off you if not microchipped. i am not planning on selling them and not currently planning on breeding i may reed my turkish spurgh thigh wen older but they have to be about 10years old dont they before u can breed them? they are only 3 at the moment.

Absolute rubbish !!!!!!! , the only time they need to be micro-chipped is if you intend to sell them or breed from them . A10's are only issued to use a tortoise for comercial purpose's .
