Default pet shop

So some of you may know i got my Russians from a crappy pet shop. They came with a lot of health problems.

I pop into the pet shop once a month just to see what they are doing (or not doing!!)

I told the RSPCA about the way my two where treated by the pet shop and how i have seen others Tortys treated there..... They said they would "have a chat" this was 6 months ago.

So i went into the pet shop yesterday to find a 4 foot viv' with heat lamp upto 40'c plus a heat mat on full. In the 4 foot viv there was....

4 Russians,
2 Leo's,
and a Pancake torty.....

I asked the owner were he got hes tortys from and did they have A10 and other paper work. He said he didnt use a "dealer" but took the Tortys from people who didnt want them anymore... so 2nd hand tortys (i can see why mine were ill when i got them now) He also said he "didnt know anything about any paper work?"

What should i do?! Ring the RSPCA again or someone else? Any ideas would be lovely as i cant stop thinking about them and wanna go buy them all

This post is wrong.

I'm curious as to how much experience you have keeping tortoises.

What you should do is learn the difference between keeping tortoises in the retail trade and having a pet at home.

you all know what word I want to use.

shops have to provide by law adequate housing/water etc for the animals they are selling and providing they are doing that they are not breaking any laws. You have to consider that a shop doesn't have to keep an animal for sale in the same conditions that we would at home, however if they are breaking the laws then the local council would be a better bet than the rspca as they are the ones who issue the shop licenses. Having said that you would need precise accurate imformation as to where they are breaking the law and not just guessing or because 'we' don't like it if that makes sense. If a shop is selling animals without the right paperwork then Defra would be the ones to speak to, all in all the rspca are only there for cruelty cases not shop conditions etc. I also don't think that russians (horsfeilds) or leopards require paperwork and I'm not sure about pancakes.

I would urge you to reconsider Eremiel . This is how Ed carries on at times and its important people don't leave because of it though of course its your choice.

Ed, Mein Kampf doesn't concern itself with tortoise husbandry. I haven't checked the other extreme right wing literature yet.

Look up the definition... use lower case.

I'm curious how my opinion is different from the OPs? One other member seems to understand my point.
