Question Is this big enough?

Hi everyone

Steven (Xero) found this outdoor enclosure on ebay:-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=p5197.c0.m619

I just want to know if this will be big enough to house 2 adult Hermanns. As i don't want to buy something and make it a permanent sturcture then have to get something bigger in a few years.

Any comments or ideas would be great

Looking at the feedback for the item it would appear be a bit cheap and shoddily made!

The seller obviously doesn't update the page very often as he said about the hutches arriving in the UK in August.

Personally, I would avoid

Can you not make your own outdoor enclosure? We bought some low height fencing and built two enclosures and went on from there.

I'd say its too small, although the picture makes it look quite big. Also the sellers feedback isn't up to much.

Hi Claire

Thanks for looking, i never actually read the feedback so i'm glad you did. Would something this size be appropriate for 2 adults though, i'm just getting ideas at the minute. Thanks

I would say that at only 4ft 9ins square internal size it wouldn't be big enough for two adults, not even for one. it looks much bigger in the photo than what it is and from the description it must be made from some kind of lightweight wood as it's described as light enough to move around

I think you'd be wanting at least 10ft x 6ft. Decking boards are often cheap at this time of year in the likes of B+Q. Two boards high is what I used, any higher and it casts a really long shadow when the sun gets lower.

Edit.. forgot to mention that I have it covered so they can't climb out

I think its a size that would need moving around therefore you'd be unable to make it a more tort freindly area ie plants/soil etc, you'd need to feed all year. Its a good idea though but the outside area really needs to be bigger and if you are intending putting a heat source in the house it must have enough head room to keep things safe. To be honest you could make something far cheaper and more permanent so it could be planted etc also by the time you have a water dish suitable for adults there'd not be much room left.

Photos can be so deceptive on Ebay. I agree with the others that you could make something yourself a lot cheaper and more sturdy.
