The problem that I can see with it is that the mesh is down to floor level, so the little darlings would be able to see out and want to get out all the time.
Having boards at floor level raises the horizon and keeps them more contented. Joe on his own would be very stressed in something that size with the ability to see out. (Although he is graeca)

Thats a lovely tortoise garden Caledonia, thats what I want to do for the Sulcata, but I dont think it will stay like it for long, they will no doubt trash it
Ebay is very bad for photos, sometimes things look massive and yet they are tiny.

Thanks for all the help and advice, i think i'm just gonna let my dad build one as he has offered (i just wanted to save him the work). Unless Alan wants to come and build it
If i want to build something that will last them a life time what size would you recommend? Thanks

Well I don't get many offers like that these days (not that I ever did )
There's not a lot too it though, just 6 inch decking boards on top of each other, the bottom one sunk into the ground a bit. Wire mesh under them, 18 inches inside and the same outside, boards fixed to some cut off 3 inch posts and frames with mesh on for the lids with posts knocked into the ground to support them in the middle. I would say Shel that you should go for the biggest you can but about 10ft x 6ft at smallest but I suppose many torts don't even get out at all so just whatever you have available. With adults you may not even need a lid, just a secure hut for night |
