Not much out there on this one in regard to tortoises:
Botanical name: Sansevieria cylindrica Family name: Agavaceae From Africa, this is an unusual relation of the common "Mother-in-Law's tongue" with spear shaped rounded deep green spikes. It is easy to grow in any well drained soil and multiplies to form a dense mass. Frgrant flowers open only during the night Quite a few sites lists Mother in Laws tongue (the plant, before you go there ) as slightly toxic-toxic http://www.houseplantsforyou.com/mother-in-laws-tongue/ |

I couldn't find much either but the Wiki says the family is Ruscaceae rather than Agavaceae but Wikis are done by anyone who fancies a shot at it If it was the Agavaceae family (and it is not unlike an Agave plant) then it may be okay as Agave is tort safe but I have seen several sites listing it as different things entirely I've found it listed as African Spear Plant, Snake Plant and Elephant's Toothpick. African Spear is the more common Last edited by Alan1; 11-10-2009 at 08:42 AM. |

I did find this list a while back but it is aimed at more "fluffY" pets. As we know tortoise digestion is a different thing altogether.
http://www.weim.net/twn/Health/Plant...ous_plants.htm A lot of succulants and cactus are high in alkoloids which are supposedly bad but Opuntia have them (it's what gives them a slightly metallic taste, dont ask). |
