you really want more than one thermometer even if one is simply inside the fridge, some of them are a few degrees different and with the fridge temp needing to be fairly precise relying on one is a bit risky. There are some cheap digital ones to be found on ebay only a couple of pounds so cheap enough to afford a couple.

I already have something similar to this I got off a friend. It goes as low as 4 deg c. It would be in a room where the sun won't shine on it, is it suitable ?

I've just unpacked the fridge and looked at the instructions to find what the temperature min and max were.. Its saying 1-7c where 1 is the warmest and 7 the coolest.
I would have thought 1 would have been the coolest.. being that temperature reads 3 2 1 0 -1 -2 -3 and so on. So why would 1 on the fridge be the warmest? Can't get my head around it Anyway will this fridge still be ok?

I think that's normal for fridges, Dotty's BEKO is the same but it only goes up to 5.
1 being the warmest and 5 being the coldest. |

I'm a big advocate of Fridge hibernation, but only if the fridge has never been used for food or is relatively new and been very thoroughly cleaned first.
I don't understand why any owner would risk hibernating a tortoise in an environment that is only designed to 'slow' the growth of germs. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2011...n_1019160.html I'm sure many people have spotless food fridges that are cleaned every week and I'm sure most of them wouldn't dream of keeping a living breathing hibernating tortoise in their Salad Draw. |
