Funny story - once I visited a garden centre in a floaty skirt and didn't realise I was walking round with one of these stuck to it. I must have walked round all day with it hanging there then I sat down in the car and the whole lot stuck into my bum!! I've still got it though, I say i 'rehomed' it.

Two facts about prickly pear cactus - you can make a lethal Tequilla like spirit out of it and it's being sold in health food shops, in powdered form, as the ultimate hang over cure. So it's not just perfect for tortoises either |

Out of the two pads I got I used up one but only once was a piece eaten, they simply don't like it my pair. The other pad is in a pot in the hope it will grow and produce flowers that they might eat

Just picked some up for Spartacus and Boadicea. I hope they like them, if not, then I will have to make a new garden!

The Pads arrived today! (Must have been a good day for Tortoise deliveries!)
After following advice on here and burning off the spikes; I sliced off a thin sliver and then split it between the two of them. Luckily, they loved the stuff and demolished it in seconds! However, due to the stickly nature of the cactus, they ended up looking right messes! So, I will be feeding them a small sliver each day just before their bath! |
