How do we know when Hamish is about to hatch? Will we get up one morning and he'll be out?

You know that when you candle the egg the membrane has pulled down? Well a few days before they hatch they break through this membrane. You should see a change as it all looks uneven inside. Thats how i can best describe it. It took Charlie a few days after piercing this membrane to hatch.
Good luck!!

Thumbs up Update day 91

well you lot it's day 91 tomorrow. not much activity in the egg just a stable dark mass changing ever so slightly week on week. Gone to look just now and there is definate shape and with the torch on there was some movement. Like a big sigh....SO! all still looking good and are still hopeful of a good outcome. So So tiny though. Didn't think god made anything so small and delicate...See you all later...Thanks for all the repolies and support.....xx

Thumbs up Well...

we started with 4. and it was quite apparent after chalking and 5 weeks that only 'hamish' was the good guy....got a video camera set up on a tri-pod on time lapse so should be interesting... is that too sad... i don't think so.
Do we feed it straight away. Do we keep it in it's incubator or move it straight to a viv. Temp i would imagine should be kept aropund 28-30 oC. Shall i post a thread 'Is it possible to sex the tort while in the egg'..
See how many responses we get.
Thanks helen...any more tips u can email us from the sight on the signature below....thanks..

Smile Well almost there!!!

We can confidently say that if it doesn't hatch within the next 24hrs i'm the granny...
When we candle it you can see the shell markings, it's moving around, gone through the membrane.
Wots left.... you can see the head definition and it's all fantastic... Got the table ready all ready in position....
As soon as it hatches, should we put some dandelions and kale down straight away...??
Have read you just treat it like an adult...help

I'd avoid Kale just try other weeds. Sounds like he's very nearly ready to come out!
I want pics when he starts to hatch!

Thumbs up Change of name

After much discussion and for very sentimental reasons. The name will be 'Oscar'.
