I posted a while back about having problems with my boss...
Well I had a disciplinary hearing a few couple of weeks back (I got a first written warning) and it is still getting worse... I had a "meeting about my performance" where I was told I was still not doing well enough, basically criticised for having a cup of water on a hot busy day as it was believed to be a break which I am not allowed before 10 (I work 7-11) and it was 9ish... told off for not buying milk dispute the fact the fridge was broken and I had said there was no point buying it till the old one was finished or it would just go off...

Well I finally went to the Drs on Wednesday as I suffer from depression and this has just been making it horrificly bad (and yes my boss knows, have told her on several occasions)
On the advice of my Dr I told my boss I had been in, we had a meeting about it today, I was told that getting signed off would just make everyone else more stressed as there is no one to pick up the slack if I am not there. That the email I originally sent about seeing the Dr was not clear as to whether I would be in (I never said I wouldn't be in or had been signed off or anything, which I should have done clearly in so many words if that was the case) and that suggesting that it would help if people said to me when they noticed I was not doing as I should that it was unreasonable as it would conflict with their busy schedule (even though I just suggested a quick work that would only have taken a minute and in the case of stopping for a drink would have saved time!)

It really is just getting beyond a joke!!

I'm afraid that if it was me I'd tell her to poke her job where the sun wouldn't shine even if it could. But I suppose that's not an option. Could you start looking for a new job?

I have been looking for I new job, I would so love to quit and tell her to stuff it, but just can't afford to...
Am very tempted to have a word with HR, trying to tell me I shouldn't get signed off cod I will make her life harder is damn out of order!

Merle, if you CAN just go for something even if its not what you want - a supermarket, retail shop, sign up with all the temp agencies. Just get out.
What ever you can get..it's affecting your health and you'll go into depression or the like.
You CAN do it. Then maybe look into your employment rights, citizens advice have free legal experts who will be able to offer unbiased advice.

You may have a case..in county court. This is quite simply harassment and bullying. Keep a diary of EVERYTHING. Thinking of you xx

I'm not sure whether if you leave you have the same rights as if you are sacked and the employer is playing it the right way with warnings etc. I think you'd need more than one person's word against another to do anything, although if there is a higher up boss then they might listen. To be honest though unless this person treats others the same its a case of her/you simply not liking each other and unforunately she happens to be your boss. Another thing to bear in mind is even if you did do something about it would you honestly want to keep your job? how would the other workers react, life could be so uncomfortable that you'd not want to be there anyway. I'd look for another job but you'll need a reference from where you are especially if you've been there a while.

but doesn't it say that bullying isn't against the law and the clauses for harrassment don't fit the bill so to speak, I think bullying has to be dealt with within the work place. However would the bully listen or would it just carry on behind the bosses back, I still think you need someone else to vouch for what you are saying. Also by giving warnings the work place know the requirements of employment, to be honest I'd hang in there and look for another job, if you leave you might not get a reference and would have to explain the warnings to any future employer as most get in touch with the previous work place.
