hiya everyone, been to petsmart over here the other day and was looking at the reptile stuff, (was shocked to see they sold greek torts in there) anyways seen a bulb and just bought it to give it a go, but was wondering what others thought of it as I was being rushed because my mum and dad wanted to get back to the apartment and I had a quick read thought it sounded ok payed and ran out and wondered if it was any good when we got back to the apartment, anyway this is what I got http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...46&pcatid=9746 I am planning on using it for my reds if it is good.

Fine for providing a basking spot for your tortoises, however they do not give off any UVB so providing you have an alternative source of UVB they will be fine.
Halogen bulbs run hot for the wattage making then very cost effective to use, but please ensure you monitor the temperatures closely so there are no risks to your tortoises.. Dazza |

hi as Dazza said you will need another light for the UVB, the Halogen may also be too bright for your redfoots, as they require more subdued lighting, and if you have the enclosure planted with lots of shade plants, these may suffer under the heat from the Halogen bulb.
I have a tube light and a separate basking lamp for my redfoots, which is just an ordinary 60w bulb. I also have lately bought some ceramic bulbs ready for autumn when the temps drop.
