Hi Mark,
Did you approach the pet shop owners? Unfortunately the majority of these establishments are in it soley for the money, not for the welfare, care or aftercare of these animals. You can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink, all you can do is go armed with information and see if it makes a difference, sometimes it might surprise you but you have to do these things tactfully. feel free to pm me the details, I like ringing them all up and asking for advice... the TPG are also worth contacing to help, I have been sending them all the details of torts with "bad backgrounds". I have managed to speak to a few petshops, offer advice and send them care sheets etc in the vague hope they sit up and listen ( as a vet it does help ..... occasionally!)

Sorry Josh but although your intentions were good there might have been a reason the tort was separate from the others, what if it hadn't been well by your putting it in with the others you now could have given the others the same illness, if you have a problem with any shop etc you can always go back with an adult or get in touch with your local council but charging in like a bull in a china shop doesn't work, walk away and think before you act or say something, the situation won't change (get any worse) if you take time out and make a decision that will work.

Sorry plus Josh you have inadvertently said why petshops have to have their animals under lock and key, for the animals security and safety, I'm surprised there wasn't a lock on the viv as if you could take it out so could anyone else, including someone who may have fancied using it as a football. I'm not condoning petshops I hate them as much as anyone else but while the law allows them to sell livestock lockable vivs are the safest place for valuable animals and the best we can hope to acheive is that the vivs are decent sizes, animals separated and provided with shelter, food and water, I've seen people reaching in and fussing even feeding rabbits etc even with signs saying " Don't Touch " I'd like to see all livestock not sold in shops but thats unlikely to happen.

don't start George I didn't label them as all bad, just don't like seeing animals sold in shops.
