a question about reds beaks
hi
as you know i have 4 reds who are 5 months all have been fed same foods and live in same enclosure but i am a little concerned abot dollys beak dolly is the smallest of the 4 but her beak is definatly longer than the others at what stage is a beak deemed to bo be to long she eats of a slate has very thin fruit sort of smeared on the slate to encourage her to get the beak trimmed naturally she loves thick plantain stems and has a real good strong pull on these im not to sure if her beak is to long but because the other 3 have much less of a beak i thought i would seek your advice will go now and try to get a clear picture but only have phone camers linda |

Hi Linda i would be amazed if at 5 months you had a beak problem with your reds.
Overgrowth of beaks is usually contributed to high levels of phosphourus in the diet combined with over feeding . A slate of similar hard surface does help keep them worn but if the diet is as said above then a slate is of no use Darren PS posted your things
