Default Is there anything i can do?

I walked into a petshop that isnt a million miles away from me today, and to my horror i saw 2 Hinge back tortoise's in with a bearded dragin which was jumping all over them and 3 white spotted geckos (one of which was just skin and bones) i found it very upsetting seeing the state of the animals, i had to walk out and will never be going back in there again. The viv they were in was 18" big.

But what i was wondering is, is there anything i can do e.g report the shop? if so to whom? or does anyone have any ideas on the course of action.

cheers

Hi Sarah,

You could always report your observations / concerns to the local council, they issue the licences for these pet shops to trade, and can revoke them if standards are not up to scratch.

So long as there is food and water in the enclosure (whatever it is), then they are deemed habitable unfortunately, people who know better dont like it, but joe public who hasnt got a clue says ahhhh look at them lovely turtles!!!!! (but they arent turtles they are tortoises), do you think I have been there before by anychance!!!!

The TPG are based in Kent and Darren was a great help to me when I complained about something similar, my problem was solved with the local council enviroment officer (sevenoaks) and Darrens planned visit wasn't needed in the end but if I remember rightly they were cpmpilling a list of bad petshops etc and will certainly chase things up for you and can offer good advice.
