Interesting...According to this my two older ones are way too big. I've always thought they were on the small side as so many others I hear about seem to be bigger, or a lot younger but a similar size.

Hermannis from diffrent parts of the range vary a great deal in growth rate and eventual size and it might be misleading to try and give specific figures. HermanniChris has some information about the size of the different hermannis here:
http://www.hermannihaven.com/ He's also got lovely photos of his hermannis on there. My hermannis seem to grow at all different rates. I posted photos of Zemo recently, he is 12 years old and only just 12cm SLC. I have a couple of much younger males who are larger than him including a 6 year old that is 14cm SLC and a hugely bigger animal.

I guess its like all species, it depends on: Genetics, environment, diet & not to forget how greedy an individual animal is!
I have clutch sisters: Marginated 3.2kg v 1.6kg, Hermans 1.5kg v less than 600grams, & another set of Herman sisters 1.2kg v 500g. All three pairs have lived together all their lives so had the same everything? |
