might be worth putting a paving slab or similar somewhere especially if the ground is wet as it gives the tort somewhere dry to sit and the concrete will warm up faster than wet soil, a slab or two also makes an ideal feeding area and you can get some nice looking ones from garden centers.

if its very wet then maybe a couple under the sleeping end, that would raise it slightely and stop any rain water running into there, they'd still be able to bury themselves if you're using soil unless you have a wooden floor to the area, most have a dry floored house for sleeping in.

Ok
There is a raised 'bedroom' bit in the rabbit run, I will be replacing the wooden roof with clear perspex so that end will be warm and dry. I'll make sure they've got darker hidey places too. And your idea of a wooden floor area, I might make them a 'decking' bit to bask on with some spare wood I wasn't really going to bother with a proper sleeping area as they will be coming in at night. It is very wet at the moment, but this time of year the garden gets no sun at all, by spring the sun will reach the soil so it's not as wet all the time

More done today
The mesh for the top half has been cut to fit around the tree, I'll be doing some more tweaks to get that corner completely escape proof. Need to get some hinges to attach the panels so I can still get to the enclosure if needed (they're just resting on the hutch at the moment). Fence in place at the other end, those planks go into the ground 10-12 inches so should be tort proof from the inside, and dog proof from the outside! Still need to add some bits to make the back corner secure, it's a bit of a funny shape. I also made a basking platform and cave out of a slab Getting there Can't wait for summer so the torts can play in it!

Bit more done today. I attached the mesh cover bits with hinges so I can get access top the top level for planting etc. I've sourced some more mesh to make the wonky corners secure. I was going to staple the mesh to the base of the tree and the fence to make it escape proof but i bought the wrong size staples for my staple gun
Also having an absolute nightmare getting top soil! No where can get it in stock! I can't start planting or putting in hides etc until I get the soil I know it's a few months until the torts will be in there but I wanted time for the plants to settle and to make sure everything stayed in place after a few rainfalls. It's just mud!!! How can it be so hard to get hold of!! lol

Aww thank you I hope so. I can't wait for the weather to be good enough for the torts to get out there. It's so much space compared to their indoor run. I hope they enjoy it

You'll really reap the benefits of all this hard work when spring arrives. Fingers crossed for another warm summer so your torts can get out and appreciate their new enclosure. Well done, I can't wait to see the finished enclosure.
