Default Plants that like to drink! Pref edible!! :)

I am currently making a "soak away" in one of my enclosures which keeps flooding. Im planning to put a drainage pipefrom middle of wet area/lowest point to carry the water out at an angle to an area outside the enclosure, where I am planning to plant several "thirsty" plants - I have one shrub, name escapes me, bright yellow flowers, + edible, but would like a few more please

I always thought that grasses were pretty good at drawing up water. I remember doing a hypothesis during my A-level biology on marram grass. They would draw up huge amounts of water during wet periods to maintain them through droughts. You need long pointed grasses.
Perhaps something like Broom would be quite good too?

Thanks Emma I will google them. I know conifers are quite good acting as pumps too as my Dad suggested this in another area or our garden - you can actually see where they are leaching the moisture out of the grass in dry weather, but I have too many, they are a pain with trimming & shade + droppings - so thought I would opt for edible if poss
